About the Recipe
Yum. Nothing better than fresh coffee cake with powdered sugar on a Saturday morning. Makes enough for the whole family. As always, I like to keep my recipes as easy and doable as possible. Enjoy!
Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup shortening
2.5 cups sugar
4 cups flour
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
For the topping:
1.5 cups chopped walnuts (optional)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Powdered sugar (optional)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cream together butter, shortening, sugar
Add in eggs, sour cream, vanilla, and mix together well
Gradually add in the dry ingredients
Put 1/2 mixture into greased 13x9 baking dish
Add 1/2 of the topping (sugars, cinnamon, walnuts if desired)
Place remaining batter on top
Add remaining topping
Bake for 45-60 minutes or until fork comes out clean, at 350 degrees
When you take it out of the oven, wait a few minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar
